Studio 11.12 is a non-profit electronic music platform based in U.A.E. Our core activity is curating raves labeled as 'Listening Parties' showcasing emerging and established local and international talents, as well as exposing the local crowd to new sounds from around the world through a podcast series labeled 'Studio 11.12 Flights'; we also offer two educational programs 'Al-Bab' and 'Warshe'.
Studio 11.12 was founded by Herr Banna (a.k.a. Michael) in August 2019. The platform is currently run by Herr Banna and Saqer Jarad.
The goal of our 'Listening Parties' is to create a space for aspiring as well as uprising and established DJs to test their sounds and capabilities and to engage with one another as well as with a crowd. Our vision is to "grow together." The title Listening Party was inspired by a cover story by RA about listening bars in Japan.
why "Listening"?
We use some of the best sound systems to deliver a truthful listening experience. Expect nothing less than crisp yet loud and clear sound. We also encourage a no-speech-on-the-dance-floor policy.
why "Party"?
Party to dance, to live, and to grow this family. Party to engage, to learn from one another, and to freely express ourselves through music; so we can grow together.
This is not a rave-wanna-be scene. This is a true humble rave scene, made by regular people for regular people.
"Al-Bab"; Arabic for the door, is our first educational program to be offered through Studio 11.12 Non-profit Electronic Music Platform.
Al-Bab will offer those who are interested in Dj-ing to "borrow" a basic Dj-ing kit (Pioneer DDJ-RR 2-channel 4-decks capable) hardware with all the necessary cables! Download a free trial version of Rekordbox and you're good to play! We will help point out some good YouTube videos for baby-steps self-learning. We will also answer any questions you may have.
Every "Borrower" can hold-on to this kit for 2-3 weeks, try it out, mess with it, ask us questions, and see if Dj-ing is a thing they want to pursue. Upon returning the kit, the Borrower is encouraged to make a donation to our platform to allow us to grow this program over time! Be it a hobby, a personal goal, the start of a new career, or the birth of a new artist; we are excited to offer you this very first step; to open that "door" for you to explore.
Interested? Drop us a message on Instagram.
“Warshe”; Arabic for Workshop, is our second educational program to be offered through Studio 11.12.
Under our vision to become a Knowledge Transcending Platform; Warshe will be a series of workshops dedicated to a range of people based on their proficiency in a variety of topics in the electronic music realm!
The concept is simple; You know something that some of us don't? Why not share that knowledge!
A weekly series of curated sets from DJs around the world specifically recorded for our platform.
